The Wanda Diamond League's North African stop, the Meeting International Mohammed VI d'Athlétisme de Rabat, returns to Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium on Sunday 31 May with what is on paper the deepest mid-season schedule the meeting has put together since rejoining the circuit. Fourteen Diamond League disciplines are confirmed — seven men's and seven women's — and the women's programme has been expanded with two additional events outside the Diamond scoring, the 100m hurdles and the 1500m, that have been used in past Rabat editions to give the local crowd a higher-profile women's field.
The headline middle-distance event will be the men's 1500m, the stop's traditional anchor and one of the few mid-May Diamond League finals in which the African 1500m crew get to race the Europeans before the late-summer programme. Soufiane El Bakkali is again entered in the men's 3000m steeplechase on home soil, and the meeting's organisers have built the broadcast around his appearance in much the same way the Doha stop is built around Karsten Warholm. Behind those two, the men's 800m field has drawn the deepest of the early-season African entries, with the sub-1:44 group from the spring Continental Tour now lining up against the European indoor podium.
The women's expanded programme is where Rabat is making its strongest pitch to the broadcast. The 100m hurdles outside the Diamond scoring is the rare chance to see the American collegiate top tier race the European outdoor circuit before the World Athletics Tour proper picks up in June, and the women's 1500m has been built around two African entries who have not yet committed to a Stade Charléty start in late June. Both events sit on the schedule between the field events and the Diamond-scored sprints, in a configuration the meeting trialled last year and judged broadcast-friendly.
For UK and US viewers, the meeting starts at 20:00 local (19:00 BST / 14:00 ET) on Sunday with the field events warmups and the first Diamond-scored heats around 20:30. The Diamond League's global broadcast partner package will carry the live feed across BBC, NBC's Peacock and the FloTrack Diamond League window, with the World Athletics highlights cut due Monday morning. The meeting is the seventh of the 2026 Diamond League calendar after the Xiamen, Shanghai/Keqiao, Doha, Marrakech, Stockholm and Oslo Bislett stops earlier in May.
Rabat marks the practical pivot point of the 2026 outdoor season. The next Diamond League stop after Sunday is Bislett in Oslo on 12 June, with the Stockholm and Paris programmes filling the back half of the month. For athletes whose late-summer plan is built around the September Tokyo World Championships, Rabat is the last sub-elite test before the Diamond League's heavier July run; for the Moroccan crowd, it is one of the two annual chances to see the world's best in their own stadium.
