The 2026 Miwok 100K, run on Saturday 2 May out of Stinson Beach, produced one of the cleanest course-record performances of the early Marin spring season. Anna Fisher led wire-to-wire to win the women's race in 9:25:03, placing ninth overall and becoming the first woman to break ten hours on the modern Miwok layout. Jimmy Elam took the front of the men's field inside the opening hour and was never seriously threatened on the way to a winning time of 8:19:57.
Fisher's effort took a chunk out of a course standard that had stood for several editions, with the official Miwok organisation flagging the 44-minute improvement on the modern record as the headline of the day. Behind her, Michelle Magagna held a hard line through the second half of the course to come home in 9:57:38, also under the previous benchmark, with Charlotte Cox completing the women's podium in 10:06:43 and similarly inside ten hours. Three women under the old course record on the same day is a stat the Marin Headlands rarely throws up.
The men's race was decided early. Elam moved to the front on the climb out of Tennessee Valley and refused to let the chase pack settle, opening a couple of minutes by Pantoll and turning that gap into double figures by the time he came back through the start-finish at Stinson. The course's 12,000 feet of climbing across a single loop traditionally rewards runners who hold rather than push in the second half, and Elam managed both halves without giving anything material back.
The Miwok 100K is one of California's longest-running trail ultras, founded in 1996 on the singletrack network around Mount Tamalpais and Muir Woods. Run as a Western States 100 qualifier and an early-season measuring stick for the Marin and Bay Area trail community, the field included a deeper-than-usual turnout of athletes already pointed at Auburn in late June. Saturday's 84 percent finish rate — 306 finishers from 373 starters under the 16-hour cutoff — sat above the long-term average for the race despite the warm afternoon on the exposed Pirates Cove section.
For Fisher, the result is an emphatic statement at the front end of the spring trail block. She has spent the last twelve months bouncing between road and trail without quite landing a marquee finish, and a wire-to-wire course-record win at Miwok provides the sort of result that reshapes any conversation about the women's depth chart heading into the Western States training camp later this month. Elam, less heralded coming in, leaves Stinson with one of the faster Miwok winning times of the past decade and a clear case for selection conversations of his own.
